There are many things to take into consideration when choosing the colour for your pool. These include things like pool surrounds, style of house, aspect (shade etc), colour variance in day and night conditions (sunny day, overcast day etc) and of course your personal colour preference.

It is also important to have a think about how a colour makes you feel and what is appealing to you. Ask yourself what colours do you want to see when looking out at your pool? Typically, you will think of things like exotic lagoon waters, the stunning lakes of New Zealand, Mediterranean or the shallow water and rock pools at the beach. If this is the case, it’s kind of easy to match you to a pool colour so collect pictures to show your pool planner and they will give you the guidance you need.

Colour samples like the ones that typically show the interior surface colour of the pool shell are perfect to show this, but they, unfortunately, are limited to that and only that. They don’t offer any indication as to what the pool will look like when it is full of water, so please be mindful of this and don’t assume a speckled grey pool shell will look grey and murky when filled with water as its surprisingly the opposite it.

Once you have worked through these things the process of elimination becomes easier and you can narrow down your selection.

If you can visit a display centre or an existing customers pool to physically see a pool full of water, I would do this for sure. If not, photos are great, but you need to be mindful that photographers tend to enhance photos, computer screen resolutions change from device to device and depending on the printer I don’t find that brochures do our pool colours the justice they deserve.

We have created a colour guide that will give you a good idea as to how one colour can look in various conditions and settings. You can then compare the options and see what’s the best fit for your personal preference and pool setting.
