Ceramic Core strength

Compass pioneered the ceramic core pool — a proprietary composite structure that is dramatically stronger than standard fibreglass. It's built into every pool we install — not an upgrade.

Why Compass Pools Are Structurally Superior

Compass pioneered ceramic core pool technology to dramatically enhance the strength and durability of every pool we put in the ground. Where standard fibreglass pools use polyester resin throughout the shell, Compass uses a proprietary combination: a vinyl ester resin layer at the gelcoat interface (significantly more water-resistant), combined with a ceramic-infused composite core. The result is a pool shell that resists osmotic blistering, flex under load, and structural degradation over decades — backed by a lifetime structural warranty on Bi-Luminite pools.* "You guys have got a ceramic core — it's as simple as that. I've seen a lot of pool shells. The structural integrity of a Compass p

At the heart of every Compass pool is patented Ceramic Core technology — a reinforced layer engineered into the shell that makes it up to twice as strong as standard fibreglass.

How Ceramic Core strength works

A pool shell has to stand up to decades of ground movement, water pressure and the weather. Compass builds that resilience in from the start with Ceramic Core — a dedicated structural layer that reinforces the wall sections of the shell.

The result is a pool that’s exceptionally strong and stable, resisting the flex and stress that can shorten the life of a lesser pool. It’s the foundation that makes the lifetime structural warranty possible.

What that means for you

02 Up to twice the strength of standard fibreglass
03 Reinforced wall sections for long-term stability

Ceramic Core strength questions — answered

What is the Ceramic Core and why does it matter?

The Ceramic Core is a proprietary composite structure pioneered by Compass Pools in the 1990s. It combines a vinyl ester resin barrier layer with a ceramic-infused fibreglass core — creating a pool shell that is dramatically stronger than standard fibreglass, more resistant to osmotic blistering, and better able to handle soil movement and temperature variation over decades.

Is the Ceramic Core available on all Compass pools?

Yes — Ceramic Core is standard on every Compass pool, in every shape and size. It is not an upgrade or an optional extra. When you buy a Compass pool through Compass Pools Newcastle, the proprietary Ceramic Core structure is included as part of the pool shell.

What structural warranty does a Compass pool carry?

Bi-Luminite pools carry a lifetime structural warranty from Compass Pools Australia.* Vivid pools carry a 25-year structural warranty. Both are significantly above the industry standard. The HydroPro hydrostatic protection valve also carries its own lifetime warranty.

How does a Compass pool compare to a concrete pool for strength?

The comparison is different to what people expect. Concrete is rigid — but over time it can crack with soil movement. A well-designed fibreglass pool shell with Ceramic Core is engineered to flex slightly under load without cracking, while remaining dramatically stronger than standard fibreglass. Both approaches work well when properly installed, but the Ceramic Core offers better long-term performance in varying soil conditions.
