Hydrostatic protection
The HydroPro™ valve is the world's first and only patented automatic hydrostatic relief system — the culmination of 3 years of R&D and proven over more than 10 years in the field. Every Compass pool we install is protected by it, and backed by a lifetime warranty.
What Is Hydrostatic Pressure — and Why Does It Matter?
When a pool is drained — for cleaning, maintenance, or repair — groundwater pressure can build beneath the shell. If this pressure is high enough, it can lift a fibreglass pool shell out of the ground. This is called hydrostatic lift — and it's one of the most damaging and costly things that can happen to a pool. Standard hydrostatic relief valves provide some protection, but they can be slow to respond and can fail over time. That's why Compass spent three years developing the HydroPro™ valve — a patented, automatic system that is 5 times faster and backed by a lifetime warranty. It's no longer new or experimental: we've been installing the HydroPro™ valve for more than 10 years, and it's p
Every Compass pool includes HydroPro™ hydrostatic protection — built-in defence against the groundwater pressure that can damage a poorly protected pool.
Groundwater is one of the biggest hidden threats to a pool, especially on sloping blocks, clay-heavy soils or waterlogged sites. Without protection, rising groundwater can push against and even lift a shell.
HydroPro™ is engineered into every Compass pool to manage that pressure — and it’s backed by a hydrostatic warranty, part of the triple-warranty cover. It’s peace of mind that matters most on tricky Newcastle sites.

Hydrostatic protection questions — answered
What is the HydroPro™ valve?
The HydroPro™ is a patented automatic hydrostatic relief valve — the world's first of its kind. It was developed by Compass Pools over three years of R&D specifically to address the limitations of standard hydrostatic valves. We've been installing it for more than 10 years now, so it's well and truly proven technology — not something new or untested. It is five times faster to respond and is backed by a lifetime warranty.
Do all pools need hydrostatic protection?
Any fibreglass pool that may need to be drained is at risk of hydrostatic lift — particularly in areas with a higher water table, after heavy rain, or in clay-based soils that retain moisture. Newcastle's Greater South West has variable soil and drainage conditions, making reliable hydrostatic protection important. We include it as standard on every pool we install.
Does HydroPro™ require any maintenance?
No — the HydroPro™ valve operates automatically. It opens under hydrostatic pressure and closes when water pressure is restored. There are no moving parts to service and no manual operation required. It is a set-and-forget protection system backed by a lifetime warranty.
What does the lifetime hydrostatic warranty cover?
The lifetime hydrostatic warranty from Compass Pools covers the pool against damage caused by hydrostatic pressure — specifically the risk of hydrostatic lift when the pool is drained. This is a genuine world-first warranty backed by the patented HydroPro™ system. Conditions apply — refer to the Compass Pools Australia warranty documentation for full details.
