Planning a pool in Glendale
Mine subsidence check
Parts of Glendale sit within a declared Mine Subsidence District. If yours does, Subsidence Advisory NSW may need to sign off the design as well as Lake Macquarie City Council or a certifier.
The approval process →Established trees
Leafy yards in Glendale mean more debris. Removing a significant tree may need Lake Macquarie City Council approval; a cover and in-floor self-cleaning handle the rest.

What Compass Pool Centre Newcastle customers say
Verified reviews from our Google Business profile — real customers rating us 4.6 stars.
One of the best customer experiences by far. Bryce is an absolute example of ‘going above and beyond’ when he attended to our pool. He took the time to not only make sure our pool was going to be fixed within his scope but also with chemicals, and also providing us with education on how to look after our pool better. A real honest and kind human. Thank you Bryce.
Our Pool is approx 15 years old now and its been a wonderful addition to our property. It was seamless from the start to the finish of the install all those years ago. It was quick and efficient and it was a pleasure to work with your install team .
Since then we have enjoyed many years of low maintenance and a real feeling of being in a little destination in our backyard … Club M !
Had our Compass pool with in-floor cleaning installed 3 years ago. Could not fault the installation, after sales care and service. The Paramount in-floor cleaning system is amazing and handles leaf litter like magic. Recently had an issue with the module and the local office were so awesome to deal with. Very happy customer!
We have a compass self cleaning pool which was installed in 2000, still cleaning itself like a champion! Definitely recommend! ♥️ Thanks guys. :)
Very helpful and full of knowledge
Great Service. Thanks Team :)

Pools in Glendale — your questions answered
We’re renovating in Glendale — pool first or renovation first?
Plan them together. A new extension can block crane access, and drainage from the renovation and the pool surrounds should be designed as one system. Sequencing them properly avoids paying for access twice.
How much backyard space does a pool really need?
Less than most people think. The Plunge 2.8 is under 3m long, and slim versions of the X-Trainer and Vogue are 2.7–3.0m wide. Add room for coping, paving and the barrier rules around the pool — we overlay real pool outlines on your site plan so you can see the fit.
Where does the water go when the pool filter is backwashed?
Never to the stormwater — backwash contains chemicals and debris that end up in creeks and the lake. Where it can go depends on your water authority and council requirements, so we confirm the approved disposal point as part of the design, along with drainage for the pool surrounds.
Which council approves a pool in Glendale?
Lake Macquarie City Council handles Development Applications; eligible projects can instead go through a Complying Development Certificate. Around the lake, foreshore lots may be affected by flood planning levels, and parts of the city sit within a declared Mine Subsidence District, where Subsidence Advisory NSW may also need to approve the design. We flag all of this early. More in our certifier’s guide to the NSW approval process.
What warranty comes with a Compass pool?
A triple warranty — structural, cosmetic and hydrostatic — backed by Compass Pools Australia. Bi-Luminite colours carry a lifetime structural warranty, Vivid colours 25 years. Warranty details.
