Privacy Policy

Compass Pool Centre Newcastle ("we", "us", "our") is an authorised Compass Pools dealer based in Tomago, NSW. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our business, how we use and share it, and your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit an enquiry, quote request, pool kit enquiry or display-centre booking we collect your name, email address, phone number, street address, suburb, postcode and state, the pool or service you are interested in, your preferred installation type and timeframe, how you heard about us, whether you would like to receive marketing, and any details you type into the message field. We also collect information you give us by phone, email or in person.

How you found and used our website. To understand which pages and advertising lead to enquiries, a small script records in your own browser (using local storage) the page you first arrived on, the website or advert that referred you (including campaign tags such as utm parameters and ad click identifiers), the pages you view on our site and roughly how long each was open. This record stays on your device and is only sent to us if you submit an enquiry form, where it is attached to your enquiry. It is not shared with advertisers. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Technical information. When you submit a form we record your IP address, the page you submitted it from and the time, which helps us detect spam and misuse.

2. How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiry, prepare quotes, and arrange site visits, consultations and installations
  • To manage our relationship with you, including after-sales service and warranty support
  • To understand which pages, searches and advertising campaigns bring enquiries, so we can improve our website and marketing
  • To filter spam and protect the website
  • To send you pool tips and offers, only if you opted in — every message lets you unsubscribe, or you can contact us to opt out
  • To meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:

  • Compass Pools Australia — the pool manufacturer, for orders, warranty registration and support.
  • Snorkel — the customer-management (CRM) platform we use to track enquiries. Your enquiry details, including where you found us, are sent to it automatically.
  • Google — Google Analytics 4 measures how visitors use the site using cookies; Google Maps and Places help you enter your address and find our display centre. Google's use of this data is covered by its own privacy policy.
  • Finance providers — if you apply for pool finance (for example through HandyPay), you apply directly with that provider and their privacy policy applies to the information you give them.
  • Service providers — our website host, email delivery service, IT support, subcontractors who help install your pool, and professional advisers such as accountants and certifiers.
  • Government authorities or others where the law requires it.

4. Information stored overseas

Some of these providers — including Google and some email and cloud services — may store or process information on servers outside Australia, such as in the United States. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers with appropriate privacy and security protections.

5. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics cookies and the browser local storage described above. You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings; the site will still work, although we will not be able to see how you found us. You can also install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

6. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and customer records for as long as we need them to deal with you and to meet warranty, tax and legal record-keeping requirements. Enquiries identified as spam are periodically deleted. When information is no longer needed we delete or de-identify it.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and restricted access to our systems. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

8. Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. If you have a privacy concern or complaint, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
