Planning a pool in Redhead
Salt air
Close to the coast, specify marine-grade (316) fence hardware and keep equipment out of direct salt spray. The fibreglass shell itself won’t corrode.
Pool barrier rules →Exposed, breezy sites
Wind strips heat and water from the pool surface. A cover and glass fencing on the windward side make a real difference in Redhead.

What Compass Pool Centre Newcastle customers say
Verified reviews from our Google Business profile — real customers rating us 4.6 stars.
One of the best customer experiences by far. Bryce is an absolute example of ‘going above and beyond’ when he attended to our pool. He took the time to not only make sure our pool was going to be fixed within his scope but also with chemicals, and also providing us with education on how to look after our pool better. A real honest and kind human. Thank you Bryce.
Our Pool is approx 15 years old now and its been a wonderful addition to our property. It was seamless from the start to the finish of the install all those years ago. It was quick and efficient and it was a pleasure to work with your install team .
Since then we have enjoyed many years of low maintenance and a real feeling of being in a little destination in our backyard … Club M !
Had our Compass pool with in-floor cleaning installed 3 years ago. Could not fault the installation, after sales care and service. The Paramount in-floor cleaning system is amazing and handles leaf litter like magic. Recently had an issue with the module and the local office were so awesome to deal with. Very happy customer!
We have a compass self cleaning pool which was installed in 2000, still cleaning itself like a champion! Definitely recommend! ♥️ Thanks guys. :)
Very helpful and full of knowledge
Great Service. Thanks Team :)

Pools in Redhead — your questions answered
Glass or aluminium pool fencing near the coast at Redhead?
Both work. Frameless glass keeps views open but needs marine-grade spigots; powder-coated aluminium is cheaper and tough. Either way it must meet the NSW pool barrier rules.
Which council approves a pool in Redhead?
Lake Macquarie City Council handles Development Applications; eligible projects can instead go through a Complying Development Certificate. Around the lake, foreshore lots may be affected by flood planning levels, and parts of the city sit within a declared Mine Subsidence District, where Subsidence Advisory NSW may also need to approve the design. We flag all of this early. More in our certifier’s guide to the NSW approval process.
How do we stop sand and leaves blowing into the pool?
A cover is the best defence. Glass fencing on the windward side helps, and an in-floor self-cleaning system moves debris to the filter so you’re not vacuuming after every windy day.
Will sea air damage a pool in Redhead?
The fibreglass shell itself won’t rust or corrode. The parts worth specifying carefully near the coast are the metal ones: marine-grade (316) stainless fence hardware and ladders, and pool equipment housed out of direct salt spray. Rinsing glass fencing and hardware every few weeks keeps everything looking new.
Is a self-cleaning system worth it?
For most families, yes — in-floor cleaning cuts vacuuming and brushing to almost nothing and improves circulation. Our technical advisor explains whether self-cleaning pools really work.
