Estate covenants

The approval process →Reactive clay
Reactive clays common in parts of Thornton swell and shrink with moisture. The shell copes with movement; drainage and engineered surrounds matter most.

What Compass Pool Centre Newcastle customers say
Verified reviews from our Google Business profile — real customers rating us 4.6 stars.
One of the best customer experiences by far. Bryce is an absolute example of ‘going above and beyond’ when he attended to our pool. He took the time to not only make sure our pool was going to be fixed within his scope but also with chemicals, and also providing us with education on how to look after our pool better. A real honest and kind human. Thank you Bryce.
Our Pool is approx 15 years old now and its been a wonderful addition to our property. It was seamless from the start to the finish of the install all those years ago. It was quick and efficient and it was a pleasure to work with your install team .
Since then we have enjoyed many years of low maintenance and a real feeling of being in a little destination in our backyard … Club M !
Had our Compass pool with in-floor cleaning installed 3 years ago. Could not fault the installation, after sales care and service. The Paramount in-floor cleaning system is amazing and handles leaf litter like magic. Recently had an issue with the module and the local office were so awesome to deal with. Very happy customer!
We have a compass self cleaning pool which was installed in 2000, still cleaning itself like a champion! Definitely recommend! ♥️ Thanks guys. :)
Very helpful and full of knowledge
Great Service. Thanks Team :)

Pools in Thornton — your questions answered
Thornton estates often have covenants — can they restrict a pool?
They can affect details such as fencing style, retaining walls or where equipment sits. Restrictions are listed on your title (often in an 88B instrument), so we review them before design.
Do fibreglass pools crack?
Properly installed fibreglass pools are flexible and very durable; most problems people hear about come from poor installation or ground conditions. Our technical expert explains.
Can a crane get a pool shell into a typical suburban backyard?
Usually, yes — most shells are lifted over the house from the street, so side access matters less than people expect. What we check is crane position, overhead power lines, street width and room for an excavator. Where access is genuinely tight, the compact Plunge range is often the answer.
Do I need council approval for a pool in Thornton?
Maitland City Council assesses Development Applications for pools, and many newer estate lots qualify for the faster Complying Development pathway. Flood-affected land near the Hunter River and heritage-listed parts of the older town can rule complying development out, so the planning check comes first. More in our certifier’s guide to the NSW approval process.
How easy is it to see Compass pools in person from Thornton?
Easy — our Tomago display centre is about 15km away. Seeing colours in real water and standing next to a full-size shell makes choosing far simpler than brochures do.
