Flood mapping
Some lots in and around Warners Bay are flood-mapped by Lake Macquarie City Council. That can set the pool level, the surrounds and whether a Development Application is needed.
The approval process →High water table
Groundwater can sit close to the surface in parts of Warners Bay, especially after rain. Every Compass shell includes HydroPro™ hydrostatic protection, and installs may need dewatering.
Can a pool really float? →Exposed, breezy sites
Wind strips heat and water from the pool surface. A cover and glass fencing on the windward side make a real difference in Warners Bay.

What Compass Pool Centre Newcastle customers say
Verified reviews from our Google Business profile — real customers rating us 4.6 stars.
One of the best customer experiences by far. Bryce is an absolute example of ‘going above and beyond’ when he attended to our pool. He took the time to not only make sure our pool was going to be fixed within his scope but also with chemicals, and also providing us with education on how to look after our pool better. A real honest and kind human. Thank you Bryce.
Our Pool is approx 15 years old now and its been a wonderful addition to our property. It was seamless from the start to the finish of the install all those years ago. It was quick and efficient and it was a pleasure to work with your install team .
Since then we have enjoyed many years of low maintenance and a real feeling of being in a little destination in our backyard … Club M !
Had our Compass pool with in-floor cleaning installed 3 years ago. Could not fault the installation, after sales care and service. The Paramount in-floor cleaning system is amazing and handles leaf litter like magic. Recently had an issue with the module and the local office were so awesome to deal with. Very happy customer!
We have a compass self cleaning pool which was installed in 2000, still cleaning itself like a champion! Definitely recommend! ♥️ Thanks guys. :)
Very helpful and full of knowledge
Great Service. Thanks Team :)

Pools in Warners Bay — your questions answered
We’re on the Warners Bay foreshore — are there extra approval hurdles?
Lakefront lots can be affected by flood planning levels and foreshore controls, which usually means a Development Application rather than complying development. It’s worth knowing before design, and we check it for your address first.
How do we deal with wind on an exposed coastal block?
Wind strips heat and water from a pool surface faster than sun alone. A cover is the single biggest help; glass fencing on the windward side doubles as a windbreak; and positioning the pool in the lee of the house makes a noticeable difference to how warm it feels.
Do I need council approval for a pool in Warners Bay?
Lake Macquarie City Council handles Development Applications; eligible projects can instead go through a Complying Development Certificate. Around the lake, foreshore lots may be affected by flood planning levels, and parts of the city sit within a declared Mine Subsidence District, where Subsidence Advisory NSW may also need to approve the design. We flag all of this early. More in our certifier’s guide to the NSW approval process.
Do lake breezes affect how warm the pool stays?
Yes — wind is one of the biggest causes of heat and water loss. A cover, glass fencing on the breezy side and positioning the pool in the lee of the house all help keep it comfortable.
Do fibreglass pools crack?
Properly installed fibreglass pools are flexible and very durable; most problems people hear about come from poor installation or ground conditions. Our technical expert explains.
